The Port Angeles Symphony’s Applause! Auction is our largest fundraiser, generating on average, approximately 21% of our revenue. Your attendance, donations, and active bidding are an important contribution to the financial stability of your symphony.
Golden Ticket Raffle
We kick off our Applause! Auction activities with our immensely popular Golden Ticket Raffle. A $50 ticket gives you a 1(100) chance to win any item offered in the Live Auction, including trips, travel and adventures. Please look for our Golden Ticket Raffle table in the auditorium lobby at the December and February concerts. You may also call the Symphony office (360 457 5579). You do NOT have to be present to win.
Silent and Live Auctions
Your ticket to the Applause! Auction includes music, hors d’oeuvres and wine while you review and bid on items in the Silent Auction. A gourmet dinner and lively bidding for Live Auction items follows.
Items in the Silent Auction include locally produced specialty items, as well as tickets for experiences and gift certificates for restaurants. The Live Auction includes a wide choice of dinner parties, overnight accommodations, cruises, our annual “wine cellar” of 40+ bottles of fine wine, and many other unique items.
Each year the Port Angeles Symphony spends thousands of dollars purchasing and/or renting the music you enjoy at our concerts. (When music is still subject to copyright laws, it cannot be purchased.) The Applause! Auction catalog presents a description and cost for each musical selection programmed for the upcoming season. We invite guests to purchase one or more of the selections listed. During the concert season, we place each music donor’s name in the concert program alongside the selection s/he sponsored.
Donating Auction Items
We begin our campaign to collect auction items in the fall. Your donations are crucial to the success of this major fundraiser. The donated items that generate the most interest and the highest bids are dinner parties and gift certificates for experiences and overnight accommodations. We deliver Certificates of Appreciation to our Applause! Auction donors and provide a list of donors in the auction catalog and on this website. Your participation is vital to the success of your Symphony, and we are most appreciative of your support.
